We cant realy comunicate with animals more than what we already do, their lvl of inteligence is just up to the task, even when people teach gorilas sing language they are still limited on the amount of words they can use. Same may hapend with aliens, when we find them they might be lower or higher in the inteligence scale. If they are higher than us then they might comunicate to us like we comunicate with a dog, which is mostly a one sided conversation

Proper communication requires both sides to want to try and communicate on a higher level. I have never seen an animal even try. They communicate on their level but never try for higher.

Well we kinda can. For example, we all know when a dog is friendly or hostile. We know when they are affraid or exited. And not only with Dogs, many other animals in fact.
